Recipe for Dry Fruit Kheer

Dry Fruit Kheer or Mewe ki kheer recipe,  is a delicious and a unique mix of milk and dry fruits. It is an easy to make Indian dessert. Since this recipe doesn’t use any grain or rice, it can be consumed on fasting days also. This is also made as a dessert or sweet dish on Indian festivals like Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami and Eid. It is also a famous Navratra recipe. So let us get started.

Dry Fruit Kheer
Instructions
  1. Use a heavy bottom utensil to cook this dessert. Add milk and keep it for boiling.
  2. While the milk boils, soak half of saffron strands in 2-3 spoons of warm water or milk.
  3. Once the milk is boiled add all the dry fruits to the milk and stir. Make sure you keep a few dry fruits for garnishing.
  4. Let it cook on low flame for 30 40 mins. Keep stirring at regular intervals.
  5. When kheer mixture starts to thicken add sugar & the saffron mixture prepared in step 2, to it and let it cook for another 10 to 15 mins. Keep stirring at regular intervals.
  6. Now add the cardamom powder and stir well.
  7. Dishout in a bowl of your choice and garnish it with chopped dry fruits and the remaining saffron strands.
  8. Dry fruit kheer is ready to serve. You can serve it warm or refrigerate it to serve cold, depending on your choice.
